I always wonder how free-to-play games factor into PC gaming sales figures. It seems to be the newest trend with many of the newest releases, and a tactical transition for the older market. Most recently, Planetside 2 was released using the F2P method. The previous version, Planetside, used a subscription model with added expansion packs, like most normal MMO games out there. Another game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, has moved from a subscription based MMORPG to the F2P model. I like the F2P model because it allows the gamer to test drive a game and make the decision to invest time and money without regret. Many gamers know the woes of dropping $60 on a game only to find out that it is horrible, and you cannot return it.

A good keyboard can make a world of difference in gameplay. Games have evolved into more than just a few buttons. You used to get buy with a fire and jump button. Now, you have an entire keyboard mapped out to different situations, depending on the game. In a game like Planetside 2, they have a different setup from when you are on the ground as an infantry, in a vehicle driving, or in the air flying. That is on top of the common keys that are used in all situations. This seems to be the newest trend in the FPS games that allow more than just run and gun gameplay. A good keyboard is crucial to play at your very best.
