NZXT Havik 120 CPU Cooler Review

The New York Giants just beat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl…..again. And again, it was against all odds, while opposing a superior team, at least superior during the regular season and on paper. What the Giants had was a lot of heart and resilience, and an ability to perform under pressure. Probably no member of the team showed this more than their quarterback, Eli Manning. Eli poses a kind of conundrum for me. I still see him as Peyton’s little (and less talented) brother, but he has two world championships under his belt. Frankly, he could win the next five Super Bowls, and I would still see him as Peyton’s little (and less talented) brother, and a good deal of sports fans are going to see it the same way. There are some stigmas that are tough to shake.

The same thing happened to Dom DiMaggio over in the baseball world. People tend to forget that Dom DiMaggio was a seven time All Star in his own right, and had a very solid, and sometimes spectacular, career. However, when you think DiMaggio, Dom isn’t the name that pops in your head. You immediately think of his older (and somewhat more talented) brother Joe. The Yankee Clipper. Joltin’ Joe. Paul Simon couldn’t even write a song chronicling Cougartown’s first native’s exploits without mentioning him. Joe DiMaggio may have been the greatest center fielder to play in the post-deadball era. So, again, it’s the little brother unable to shake the older (but more talented) big brother, despite his own accomplishments. Which leads us to wonder, in the grand scheme of things, how ticked off Vince (the oldest and significantly less talented brother) DiMaggio must be……

The NZXT Havik 120 CPU Cooler comes hot on the heels of its larger brother, the Havik 140. With all new innovations of its own, the Havik 120 looks to offer all of the performance we have come to expect from NZXT in a smaller package, while keeping NZXT’s trademark black and white look. The Havik 120 uses dual 1500rpm 120mm fans in a push/pull configuration to move massive amounts of air through its cooling tower. The tower of the Havik 120, itself, has a unique fin design, with less restriction, to provide better flow through and over the four nickel-plated copper 8mm heatpipes. NZXT uses rubber fan mounting to reduce any vibration noises, while newly designed fans top out at a very quiet 22dBA. Should you want a more silent experience, a Low Noise Adapter is included to drop fan speeds to 1200rpm. The Havik 120 comes with a universal mounting kit and is a direct fit on Intel LGA2011/1155/1156/1366/775 and AMD AM3/AM2 platforms.
